Where to Smoke at Don Mueang Airport (DMK): Complete Smoking Area Guide
If you are a smoker passing through Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), finding a spot to smoke can be a bit tricky. Unlike some other airports, there are no indoor smoking rooms at DMK, even inside the lounges or after security/immigration.
However, you can still smoke outside before checking in or after arriving. Here is everything you need to know about where to find the designated outdoor smoking areas at DMK.

- No Indoor Smoking: All indoor areas, including airside boarding gates and airport lounges, are strictly non-smoking.
- Two Main Outdoor Locations: Designated smoking areas are located outdoors on the Arrival and Departure levels.
- Easy Access Between Terminals: Terminal 1 (International) and Terminal 2 (Domestic) are connected, so you can easily walk between them.
1. Arrival Level (1st Floor) Smoking Area
If you have just arrived and need a smoke, there is an outdoor smoking spot near the Domestic Terminal.
- Location: Exit Terminal 2 (Domestic) through Door 10 on the 1st Floor, cross the small roadway, and you will see a smoking area shaped like a container box.
- Good to Know for Grab Users: The official Grab service counter is located near Door 12, and the pickup point is also in this area. If you plan to call a Grab ride, this spot is quite convenient.
- Tip: This container box smoking area is fairly small and can get very hot. Unless you are already getting into a Grab nearby, we recommend heading up to the 3rd Floor (Departure Level) smoking area instead, as it is much more comfortable.
2. Departure Level (3rd Floor) Smoking Area (Recommended)
This is the best and most comfortable place to smoke at Don Mueang Airport.
- Location: Located outdoors on the 3rd Floor, right between the International Terminal (Terminal 1) and Domestic Terminal (Terminal 2). It is right next to Door 8 of Terminal 1.
- Why it’s better: Even though it is outdoors, the area is surrounded by greenery/trees and offers plenty of benches to sit down and relax before your flight.
